ProctorU Spotlight: Amanda Hileman
Today in our ProctorU Spotlight is Client Success Manager Amanda Hileman! Amanda’s primary role is to oversee the onboarding process and to assist faculty with technical and administrative issues on a day-to-day basis.
Hey Amanda! Tell us a bit about your background.
A: I graduated from a school of ministry in Pennsylvania in 2009. I had several jobs before ProctorU but the most recent was working at the Hannah Home.
What is your position at ProctorU?
A: I am a client success manager.
And how long have you been with us?
A: It will be seven years in November!
Wow, that’s a long time! What role did you start in?
A: I actually started out as a part-time proctor.
You’ve been here for a while, so you must have seen a plethora of changes. The company has grown exponentially since its beginnings. Tell us about that.
A: Definitely! Well, seven years ago if you were a proctor you were also a tech, phones representative, student advocate and basically anything else that was needed. It’s pretty amazing to see how much we have grown and changed since then! When I started working here we had less than 10 proctors and around 50 partners. Now, we have over 500 proctors and support staff servicing 1,000+ partners.
Out of all the positions you’ve held here, which has been the most rewarding and why?
A: I would say my favorite position is the one that I am in now. I enjoy helping our partners get started with ProctorU and being here for them if they need anything. I am also thankful for the work relationships that I have developed over the years. ProctorU is full of wonderful people who are great to work with.
You’re a perfect example of how someone can really move in this company. What would your advice be to a new proctor here who is hungry to begin his/her career?
A: Work hard and do your best! This is a great company to move up in.
Switching focus, where are you from?
A: I’m from Alabama. I have lived in Pennsylvania and New York but came back to Alabama, and I now live in the town I grew up in.
And you’re married? Kids? Tell us about them.
A: I have been married to my best friend for seven years now. We have two amazing boys, ages 4 and 2. There is never a dull moment with two small boys!
Describe your perfect day off.
A: My perfect day off would be doing anything with my husband and kids. Family time is so important to us and we love just being together whether it’s swimming, hiking, seeing a baseball game or just hanging out around the house.
What about the perfect vacation? Are you a staycation kind of person, beach, mountains, etc? Have you ever been to another country?
A: Beach for sure! I have only traveled outside of the US twice. I have been to Ireland and Bulgaria. I loved them both and would visit again in a heartbeat!
What are your favorite movies? Are you a horror lover? Action type? Rom Com?
A: My favorite movie is Sleepless in Seattle. Romantic comedies would have to be my favorite.
What are the best kind of days at work for you? Do you love when the office is full and busy, or those chill days when not a lot of people are here? Or maybe you like the days that your team is at a conference or training seminar.
A: The best days for me are busy days.
Lastly, what would you do if you won the lottery?
A: I would be sure my kids were set (max out college funds we started for them) then buy a beach house.
